We have been looking for a Chihuahua since we lost our last beautiful ChiChi, and as a companion for our other Chihuahua. We had already decided that we didn't want another puppy and really wanted to give a rescue dog a loving home. We wanted to give them the best life possible. It was while we were looking on the internet that we came across British Chihuahua Rescue and instantly fell in love with Gizmo. He stood out so much with his deer head looks, much like our previous Chihuahua.
We filled in the adoption request form on the website and the next day we received a phone call from the rescue who chatted to us for a while about what we were looking for as well as our previous experiences with dogs. We were delighted to hear that Gizmo was not too far from us and we agreed that our details could be passed on to his fosterer. She got in contact the very next day.
We agreed to travel to meet Gizmo a couple of days later, with our own dog Pepe. We spent a while with him, and his fosterer was pleased with how he behaved around us all. We even went with him on a little walk! We discussed having a home visit to see how Gizmo would react once we'd had the night to sleep on the decision. We didn't need the night, we already knew he was the one we wanted to join our family. We informed his fosterer that our decision was 'Yes' and we arranged the home visit for a few days later.
When Gizmo first arrived he was a little nervous, as we all expected, but he explored the house and garden fairly quickly and seemed less nervous around us all. After a while his fosterer told us he could stay with us forever starting that day. We were so happy.
Gizmo has become part of the family already and has us wrapped around his little paws. He's such a wonderful boy and he's brought so much joy to the house already, and it's only been a week since we met him!
We cannot thank the British Chihuahua Rescue, and especially his fosterer, for all they've done both for us and for getting Gizmo ready for a new home. The process has been a pleasure from start to finish and it's obvious how much everyone cares for each and every rescue dog.
We will not hesitate to tell people about the British Chihuahua Rescue and one day I'm sure we will be back in contact to find another dog that is in need of a loving home.
