Hi, I’m Denny.
I’m a very special little lad who is looking for a kind and calm human to call my own.
I love a fuss and will happily plonk myself in your lap, headbutting your hand for strokes — although this is very much on my terms!
When I first arrived in foster, I was very scared and anxious, but my confidence is growing day by day, which my foster family say has been lovely to see.
I currently live with two resident dogs and could happily live with other dogs in my forever home, although I’d also be very happy being the little prince of the household.
Like many Chihuahuas, I make an excellent doorbell and will definitely let you know when someone arrives! I can bark at strangers at first, but I settle quickly, especially once I get to know people after a few visits.
I’m happy being left alone for short periods and usually snuggle up in my bed or on the sofa while waiting for my people to come home.
I walk beautifully on the lead and really enjoy gentle walks with lots of opportunities for sniffing. I’m not particularly bothered by other dogs or people when I’m out and about and mostly like to focus on my own little world.
At the moment, putting my lead on can still be a little tricky because I can get frightened if hands or the lead come near my face unexpectedly. My foster home is helping me build my confidence with this though, and I’m getting a little braver every day.
I’m looking for a patient, loving and calm forever home where I can continue to grow in confidence at my own pace. I’d probably suit an adult-only home best, although sensible older children may be considered if they can understand when I need space and patience.
Anyone hoping to adopt me will need to meet me several times first, as I can be very wary of new people. Once I know and trust you though, I become a very affectionate little love bug who will absolutely melt your heart.
I’m still under assessment at the moment and I’m not quite ready for adoption just yet. But perhaps one day, you could be the one to offer me my perfect lap.
