About
Dearest gentle reader,
I'm Bonnie (the glossy black girl), a bonnie lass forever trying to lose a bit of weight. And this is my pal Basil (the tiny lighter coloured boy) who, through no fault of his own, makes a girl feel rather big boned.
We are the loveliest duo of Chihuahuas. You won’t find better. Our foster mum says we’re absolute ambassadors for the breed, snuggly, quiet, loving and easygoing. From day one, we’ve just slotted in and made ourselves at home.
Before we lived here, we didn’t really do much walking or outdoor toileting, for that matter. But we’re smart little sausages and quick learners. Within two weeks, we’d mostly got the hang of the routine. These days, Basil is fully housetrained and even asks to go out when he needs to. I’m housetrained too, but I don’t ask yet. I prefer to be taken to the garden regularly. Keeps me from forgetting.
We adore cuddles and will happily snuggle up whenever you let us. We’re both fine with being picked up and handled, and we’ve been friendly with the resident dog here too. I particularly enjoy my doggie friends. Basil mostly just vibes.
We’ve had some lovely visitors and were quite happy to hop on laps and be part of the action. We do give a little bark when someone knocks, we have to earn our keep, after all, but we soon settle once we’ve done our bit.
There aren’t any cats here, but our foster mum thinks we’d likely be fine with them as we’re just so easygoing. We sleep together in our crate overnight and can be left for a few hours during the day without worry.
Basil has really come out of his shell lately. He’s perked right up and loves his walks now. He’s zooming around the garden like a tiny whirlwind, eating well, and building up his strength. When he arrived, he was all skin and bone. Now he’s gaining muscle and confidence by the day. It’s a joy to see.
As for me... well, I’m not so sure about walks. I’ll go sometimes, but I tend to hang behind and would often rather stay home and snuggle. Everyone has their preferences. I’ve had patella surgery in the past, but you’d never know it, it doesn’t stop me at all. I still get the zoomies in the garden and love to play with Basil.
I’m also a soft toy enthusiast. I will proudly greet you with one and bring it back if you throw it (please do). I love chasing flies and being silly, but I’m not a fan of fireworks or loud bangs. Basil? Basil is Basil. He doesn’t say much.
To conclude then gentle reader, we are a sweet, affectionate, low-maintenance little pair looking for a home full of love, lap time, and maybe a few soft toys. We’ve been brilliant with everyone and everything we’ve come across and we’re ready for the next chapter.
With love,
Bonnie (and Basil being silently supportive)
xx
