Hi, my name is Baloo.
I am 4 years old. I will be 5 this year.
I have just recently come into foster, so I am under assessment and finding my feet.
I have always loved humans but I haven't been around other dogs much. I am learning to be a sociable Chihuahua with varying degrees of success. I'm trying to make friends, but my new foster pals keep telling me off. I don't think I'm reading the room quite right yet. They are nice and kind though and are being very patient with me.
I can be reactive to other dogs and some people if I feel unsure of them, so my foster mum is helping me with this. I would prefer to be in an adult only home.
Things you should know about me health wise. I am neutered. I have grade two luxating patella in one of my back legs and some stiffness in the other. The vets have checked both and they said there are no concerns at present with the stiff back leg. The grade two patella doesn't require surgery but frequently 'pops out' and makes me cry a bit when it does. If you give me some time, it will just pop back into place. The vet says if I lose a little bit of weight, this will help. My foster mum is already keeping an eye on what I am eating, which is totally out of order! I had 12 teeth removed not long ago and my vaccinations are up to date.
I have lots of toys and love to play. I will do tricks but only once I've got to know my audience. I love walking and it is a really important exercise for my back legs. Short walks at present, until the muscle builds up to support me. Then we'll be off into the hills!
Although I don't need any veterinary treatment at present, I am 'in assessment' to try to lose a bit of weight and so my foster mum can see how I am with daily life. Then she'll be able to give you a bit more of an idea of what I like and don't like.
It would be lovely to meet you once I've settled a bit. I am a loving boy but will need time and patience in my new home.
