Hello, I'm Hugo.
I'm a young chocolate long haired Chihuahua with a big personality and an even bigger zest for life. I'm playful, affectionate, curious and always ready to be involved in whatever you're doing. Whether it's chasing a football, heading out for a walk, playing with my toys or curling up for a cuddle afterwards, I'm happiest when life is full of fun.
I'm also incredibly nosey. If you open a book, don't be surprised if I decide it looks like the perfect place to sit. I'll happily inspect your shopping, supervise you while you're unpacking into the fridge and I've even been known to end a phone call or two by tapping the screen with my nose.
Although I'm still very much a puppy, I've already learned so much in foster care. I walk beautifully on my lead, wait patiently at the kerb before crossing the road and travel really well in the car. I'm eager to learn and love having something to do, especially if there are treats involved.
When I first arrived, I was a little unsure of new people because I simply hadn't met enough of them. Now I'm much happier saying hello to almost everyone I meet, especially if they happen to have a treat in their pocket! I'm also learning that meeting other dogs can be fun. I sometimes bark when I first see them because I'm still building my confidence, but once I've had the chance to say hello I'm usually keen to make friends. Going to dog club twice a week has really helped me, and I'm enjoying learning all about the world.
I'm looking for an active home that will continue helping me grow into the confident little dog I'm becoming. I'll need patient guidance as I mature, but I have so much love to give and I'm ready to become someone's best friend.
One important thing to know about me is that I have a sleep startle reflex. This is easy to manage once you understand it, and my foster carer will be happy to explain how. Because of this, I'll need my own cosy bed rather than sharing yours.
Life is far too exciting to watch from the sidelines, so I'm looking for a family who'll enjoy exploring it with me. If that sounds like you, I'd love to meet you.
