Hello, I’m Rupert.
I’m nine years old and currently living with my foster family near Slough.
I’m a friendly, playful little chap who really loves being with his people. Once I know you, I like to keep an eye on what you’re doing and be part of things. I’m already an experienced little traveller too – I’m used to going out in the car, on buses and trains and visiting dog-friendly places. So if you’re looking for a companion to share your everyday life with, I could be your boy.
I enjoy my walks and will need around an hour of exercise each day, building up as I get fitter. I’m not exactly racing anywhere at the moment – I prefer a more leisurely pace – but that may change as my fitness improves. I also enjoy chasing a ball or soft toy. Bringing it back to you though is not part of my version of the game.
At home I love my food, enjoy being groomed and like having a secure garden where I can wander around and potter. Most of all, though, I like having my person nearby. I seek them out for comfort and security and, once I’ve formed that bond, I find being left difficult. At the moment I can only be left for around an hour, so I need a home where someone is around most of the time and where I can be included in everyday life.
I can be nervous of people I don’t know and need to be allowed to make friends in my own time. A quiet home with one or two people would suit me much better than somewhere busy and noisy. I need someone with Chihuahua experience who understands that I may need a little time to feel completely safe.
I’d also like to be your only pet. I can be reactive towards some dogs when we’re out, although my fosterer finds this manageable when she spots it early. I’m looking for a home without other dogs or cats, where I can have my person all to myself.
I could live with children aged 10 or over, provided the home itself is calm.
I have no known ongoing health issues, although I do have a very thick coat which needs regular grooming to keep my skin healthy.
What I really need is someone who wants a proper little companion. Someone I can trust, go places with, potter around with and come home with.
